Software I Use And Recommend

  • IrfanView The most powerful and FAST free graphics viewer anywhere. I've tried just about all free viewers there are and I keep coming back to this program. It will read more than 60 file types and is incredibly fast and simple to use. Make sure you investigate all the shortcut keys shown in the menus.
  • Thumbnailer The program I use that generates all my galleries. A very sophisticated and very powerful application. You can use the templets that are included or write complex ones to build entire websites automatically. I run this program once and an entire gallery is generated. The only thing I have to do is create the index link and title the page.
  • Real VNC Remote control software for managing computers across a network or the Internet. Easy to use and reasonably secure, a terrific program and simpler than Windows XP remote assist.
  • Apache Web Server The web server of choice for most of the Internet. It is free, but unless you are well versed in web servers, it's quite difficult to configure. Not reccommended for the beginner.
  • Xitami Web Server (Imatix spelled backward) an easy web server to set up and configure. However, there are some problems with stability under Windows 2000. I had to give it up and go with Apache, but it is very good for the beginner and runs very well under Windows 98. It is also free.
  • PDF Creator PDFCreator is a free tool to create PDF files from nearly any Windows application and is in my "must have" toolbox.
  • J-Album This gallery software makes web albums of your digital images. JAlbum aims to be the easiest to use and most powerful tool in this category - and free! This software is used to create all of our web albums/galleries.
